So many speakers mistakenly believe speaker bureaus and online speaker directories should provide free marketing campaigns to get them paid speaking engagements... as though they worked in the same way literary agents do. Please understand that it works in reverse.

In order for meeting planners to want to book you, you first need to become a drawing card for them. In other words you need to have reached some form of celebrity status so their audience will register and pay to hear and see you. Making you famous and desired as a speaker is the mandate of public relations firms. Not speaker bureaus, and not book publicists; but
personal public relations firms who specialize in positioning and raising the profiles of specialists and authorities with one specific area of expertise.

If you aren't generating paid speaking engagements and want to have them flow to you effortlessly, hire a
personal public relations consulting firm to position you and create an awareness campaign.

That said... we plan to promote the online directory
as a whole through press and media contacts developed over nearly 30 years. That means you and all the member speakers will share equally the attention resulting from regular promotional efforts. You'll have access to the same attention as your peers.
