Speakers' Fees

While most speakers will expect to be paid for their work, many speakers will speak for free for a number of reasons:
1. They may be new authors and are expanding their audience from booksignings to speakings and still need some practice as speakers.
2. They may be in public office and are prohibited from accepting payment for speaking.
3. They may be salaried employees who speak, as part of their job description.
4. They may prefer to give promotional talks to generate new business for their professional practice.
5. They may be professional speakers, but also offer a few presentations each year at no fee to a limited number of non-profit or charitable groups.
6. They may be willing to speak for free in exchange for a good quality video of their own presentation which you produce.
7. They may be willing to speak for free if you buy a copy of their book for every member of the audience.
8. They may be willing to speak for free for a charity raising funds for a cause important to the speaker.
Don't take it personally if a speaker declines your invitation to speak for free. It could be for any number of reasons. Possibly...

  • There may be a scheduling conflict;
  • The speaker may have reached her quota of free events;
  • The speaker may not see the merit in traveling a long distance without having his expenses covered;
  • The speaker may have already presented at a similar organization.
The majority of speakers charge anywhere from $100 to $10,000. Feel free to contact any of our speakers directly to discuss your event. It would be helpful to contact speakers with your completed checklist to save time. A speaker can give you a more accurate estimate when all the information about the event has been revealed to him/her.

We may, if enough speakers and meeting planners request it, provide
fee levels at which speakers are willing to speak, to assist meeting planners with their budgeting.
